Salam Centre exists to bring people of all ages together — to connect with one another, learn new skills and ideas, and find a sense of belonging as individuals, families and as a community.
Our purpose
A welcoming hub for the community, delivered across four pillars of activity: Community, Prayer, Activities and Education.
Wales is home to some 46,000 Muslims, served by dozens of mosques and organisations. Working at a shared scale allows provision to be coordinated rather than duplicated, and gives Welsh Muslim organisations somewhere to run the programmes that benefit from space.
The Education Suite is open, with classes from October, and Prayer & Discovery is in progress. The other spaces described on this site are proposals: a vision for the building that depends on funding, fit-out and approvals, and one we would rather shape with the community than present as settled.

The building
Twenty-two and a half thousand square feet, arranged around a courtyard.
A modern headquarters-style building in St Mellons Business Park, on two floors around a landscaped internal courtyard. Open-plan where it needs to be flexible, and properly specified where it needs to last.

Open and in progress
The Education Suite is open, with dedicated classrooms for courses, workshops and community learning. Prayer & Discovery — a calm prayer space alongside a discovery area — is being prepared.
Proposed
A co-working space, nursery, event hall, auditorium, studio and lounge, and a sisters-only space. Each is subject to funding, fit-out and approvals.

Landscaped, enclosed and open to the sky — the building's lung, and the place most of it looks onto.
Getting here
Off the A48 at St Mellons, twenty minutes from Cardiff city centre and reachable from Newport, the Valleys and Swansea without a change.

Governance
Governance and accountability.
Salam Centre is governed by a trustee board with defined terms of office, an annual independent audit and published accounts. Major commitments are approved by the board, conflicts of interest are declared on a public register, and safeguarding is overseen by a named trustee.
